Vaulted stone chimney wall

The project

This living room has a tall vaulted ceiling with windows on both sides of the fireplace, which called for a fireplace with real height.

We carried the stone all the way up to the peak of the ceiling, framed the firebox with an arched stone surround, and set a thick stained wood mantel at a comfortable height. The tall stone wall balances the windows on either side.
