Brick to stacked stone

The project

The original fireplace was a worn brick face with an open firebox and a wood mantel shelf.

We covered the brick with stacked stone, set around a new arched insert, and finished with a new dark hearth and the wood mantel above. The result is a warmer, more substantial fireplace without rebuilding the structure behind it.
